What to Do When There Is a Down or Damaged Power Line?
DOWN. DANGER. DIAL.
If you see a downed or damaged power line, always presume it is live and lethal. Stay at least 10 metres back (the length of a city transit bus) and call 911 immediately to report the incident.
To keep your crew and family safe around downed electrical conductors, remember these three words: Down, Danger, Dial. Once emergency authorities have secured the perimeter, contact Metro Power at (604) 520-9527 for rapid private line and pole restoration.
SEC 03 //
What to Do When a Fuse Cutout Blows?
When a high-voltage fuse cutout trips or blows on a private pole, it typically produces a loud bang and disconnects primary power to your transformer. Safely from a distance, check for any fallen branches or wildlife near the base of the cutout pole.
Never attempt to re-fuse or touch high-voltage pole equipment yourself. Our certified Powerline Technicians carry replacement fuse links, hot sticks, and bucket trucks to inspect the fault, clear the short circuit, and safely re-energize your cutout.

What Does a Blown High-Voltage Fuse Cutout Look Like?
A fuse cutout is a combination fuse and disconnect switch mounted on primary overhead utility poles. When a fault occurs, the fuse barrel drops open to protect the transformer. Never attempt to close or touch a dropped cutout barrel. Call Metro Power's 24/7 dispatch at (604) 520-9527.

TECHNICAL BRIEFING & FAQ
Emergency Services: Frequently Asked Questions
01 //How long does emergency power restoration or pole installation take?+
Most emergency utility pole and overhead line restorations take less than 10 hours once our crew arrives on site. The work is executed by certified Category 5 Powerline Technicians equipped with auger and bucket trucks to restore power rapidly.
02 //What is the best place for a backup generator?+
The safest location for a standby or portable generator is outdoors on a level pad away from doors, windows, and air intakes, so carbon monoxide exhaust and engine noise never enter the building.
03 //Why do you need backup power and rapid emergency line repair?+
Extended power outages can halt commercial operations, spoil agricultural or cold-storage inventory, and disable critical residential heating and sump systems. Having a direct 24/7 private powerline contractor ensures you aren't waiting days when damage occurs on the customer side of the BC Hydro connection.
